Over the course of the program, you will build the core elements of an Environmental Management System (EMS) for an organization of your choice.

Each assignment will build on work you completed in earlier months, so that by the end of the program you will have developed a practical, integrated EMS rather than a series of unrelated exercises.

You may work with a real organization where information is available, or make reasonable assumptions where necessary and clearly identify them. Your work should reflect the context, activities and environmental priorities of your selected organization and demonstrate how the concepts in ISO 14001 can be applied in practice.

The assignments are designed to take you from understanding the organization and its environmental issues through to setting objectives, establishing controls, measuring performance, addressing problems and communicating results. This reflects the program’s objective of giving you hands-on experience developing an EMS in accordance with ISO 14001.
